May and Ed
1956 Mary "May" Madeline Bonfils marries Charles Edwin "Ed" Stanton. 1962 May Bonfils dies and the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation is created.
First Grants Awarded
1981 Bonfils-Stanton Foundation awards its first grant.
Livingston Fellowship
2005 The Livingston Fellowship Program is established to further nonprofit organizations by supporting their greatest assets - their leaders.
Focus on Arts
In 2012, Bonfils-Stanton Foundation narrowed its grantmaking focus exclusively to supporting Arts and Culture in Denver, underscoring its commitment to enriching the city's cultural landscape.
New Racial Equity Focus
In 2019, Bonfils-Stanton Foundation shifted its strategy to emphasize racial equity, deciding against large, multi-year capital grants for major Eurocentric organizations. Instead, it prioritized capital support for smaller groups serving BIPOC and other historically marginalized communities.
New Strategic Framework
In 2022, Bonfils-Stanton Foundation unveiled its new Strategic Framework, setting a path to continue supporting arts, culture, and nonprofit leadership, with a strong emphasis on prioritizing equity in all its endeavors.
