Project Description

Grantee Profile: Youth on Record (YOR)

Members of the Flobots band formed Youth on Record in 2008. The innovative, community-focused nonprofit believes in the power of art and music to improve the lives of extremely vulnerable youth and to enhance communities.

Youth on Record views music as a tool for personal transformation, relationship building, leadership development and action. The organization represents a unique partnership with Denver Public Schools, Denver Housing Authority, and professional musicians. Together they inspire at-risk youth to reengage in their education and graduate—while providing advanced job skills and opportunities in various creative industries.

Intensive, for-credit high school classes are led by a powerful group of culturally relevant, diverse, professional Colorado musicians, all of whom have a passion for working with at-risk and underserved youth in the Denver Metro area.

Bonfils-Stanton Foundation supports Youth on Record as they continue to deliver cutting-edge, nationally recognized music programs of the highest quality with demonstrated impact. Specifically, the Foundation’s grant is targeted for Youth on Record’s outdoor concert and recording session initiative. This new venture will create a vibrant musical hub for a predominately low-income neighborhood that will help build a stronger, more cohesive community.
