Project Description

DEI Opportunity Grantee: Harmony—A Colorado Chorale

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Straight Ally (LGBTQA) voices of Harmony: A Colorado Chorale embrace and inspire an inclusive community through song and performances. The non-audition choir is open to all levels of musical skill and seeks to promote their message of inclusivity and social justice to the community.

In 2018, Harmony performed and commissioned the piece “Man Behind the Dream,” the story of Bayard Rustin who was the civil rights activist who taught Martin Luther King, Jr. about non-violent protest and was the guiding force behind the August 28, 1963 March on Washington.

In 2019, under the direction of Artistic Director Joy Jenkins, Harmony celebrated diversity and inclusion by performing at the Pepsi Center in Denver with actor/singer/performer, Hugh Jackman.
