Grantee Profile: Denver Architectural Foundation
When you stand along Denver’s streets, do you ever catch yourself glancing at the amazing architectural designs of some of the buildings? The Denver Architectural Foundation (DAF) was established in 1990 to increase public awareness, understanding and involvement in Denver’s built environment. Today, DAF continues to make relevant connections between architecture, art, education and community.
The mission of DAF is to inspire people from all walks of life to explore the city, experience the importance of design, and envision an exceptional future for Denver. The board, membership base and program participants further represent the organization’s belief that Architecture is For All.
In 2005, DAF introduced their large-scale event called Doors Open Denver – which is an annual, two-day event that allows public access and exploration of Denver’s buildings and outdoor spaces. Doors Open Denver has become a popular and engaging event. Site-specific arts and culture activities during the event help further reinforce the relationship between art, architecture and design.
Bonfils-Stanton Foundation helps support the planning and implementation of free, interactive arts and cultural activities at multiple Doors Open Denver sites.
