Project Description

DEI Opportunity Grantee: Chicano Humanities & Arts Council, Inc.

The mission of the Chicano Humanities & Art’s Council, Inc. (CHAC) is to celebrate Chicano/Latinx culture through arts and education. CHAC serves artists who identify as Chicano and/or Latinx and provides space to share their work and a community to support them.

CHAC was founded in 1978 by a group of visual and performing artists. The organization preserves and promotes visual arts (sculpture, painting, photography, and fold art); literature (poetry, prose and drama); music (choral, vocal, instrumental, and composition/arrangement); dance (folk, ethnic, Avant Garde, classical and traditional); and humanities (history, sociology, philosophy, lexicon, and education).
