Grantee Profile: Black Cube
Black Cube was founded in 2015 to turn the traditional idea of a museum on its head and reach audiences not regularly exposed to contemporary art. Black Cube has no permanent exhibition space or collection. Instead, it explores experimental approaches to presenting and engaging the art of today through pop-up exhibitions, lecture series, and web-based commissions.
In addition to pop-up exhibitions, Black Cube presents a visiting critic lecture series that features leading curators, critics and scholars of the contemporary art world.
Bonfils-Stanton Foundation supports Black Cube’s ‘Drive-In,’ which is a series of one-night pop-up exhibitions that feature experimental installations in vehicles by local contemporary artists. More than 30 local artists are engaged in these exhibitions that occur in different Denver neighborhoods.
