Inclusive Communities Grantee: Black American West Museum & Heritage Center
Black American West Museum & Heritage Center serves to promote an understanding of the role African Americans played in the settlement and development of the western United States through its collections, programs and exhibits.
Paul W. Stewart founded the Black American West Museum & Heritage Center in 1971. In his childhood, Paul was playing Cowboys & Indians and someone told him “There is no such thing as a Black cowboy.”
