Last winter, Bonfils-Stanton Foundation had the unique privilege of a sneak peek into the future of cultural and artistic expression in Denver, guided by Alfredo Reyes, the Executive Director of the Latino Cultural Arts Center (LCAC).
As we walked through the future site of Las Bodegas, Alfredo’s passion was palpable. He shared stories of the LCAC’s journey – a mission fueled by the fusion of cultural arts, social impact, and economic empowerment. The center, under his leadership, is not just a space; it’s a dream being woven into reality.
LCAC believes in the power of art to ignite social change and heal communities. This is embodied in every aspect of LCAC’s work, reaching over 10,000 people annually without a dedicated space.
The tour of what will be Las Bodegas was a revelation. Alfredo pointed out where digital and visual arts will come alive, where four flexible classrooms, a multimedia lab, two artist studios, and a café will soon buzz with creativity. This isn’t just a building; it’s a future landmark for Denver’s art scene, and one of the first fully electric commercial buildings in the city.
Alfredo’s/LCAC’s story is one of courage, imagination, and unwavering commitment to cultural and community empowerment. As we left Las Bodegas, inspired by his vision, we knew we were witnessing the birth of something extraordinary.
